The next meeting of the Inmagic Museum User Group will be held at the Yarra Ranges Regional Museum on 2nd December 2014. The Museum collection of more than 8,000 items includes the internationally significant Dame Nellie Melba collection and objects reflecting the rich cultural heritage of the Yarra Ranges region. It is a focal point for more than 17 historical societies and heritage groups across the Shire, a gathering space, and a source of professional educational and public programs.
The museum, a long time user of DB/TextWorks, has recently started using Presto for DB/TextWorks as its online platform for its collection. The catalogue is available at http://www.yrrmuseumcollection.com
About 40 people thoroughly enjoyed the User Group meeting at the RACV Club Library on October 13. This library was set up from scratch when the Club moved into their new premises in 2004. Lisa Sukkel, who has been the librarian from the start, hosted us and gave us a good history of how it came to be what it is, and the unique challenges they face, as a library in a hospitality environment.
The next Melbourne User Group meeting will be held at the RACV City Club Library. Having just celebrated its tenth anniversary, the Library is one of several club libraries in the heart of Melbourne but is unique in its size, range of services and number of users.
The Library has used Inmagic TextWorks products since its inception, with the suite of databases evolving alongside the library over the past decade, to incorporate new services such as loans, extended research classes and extensive reporting.
